LG released the V30 smartphone with water resistance and P-OLED display in August 2017. LG V40 is the successor of V30 and will come somewhere in H2 of 2018. LG V30 is a successful flagship, and we hope V40 will be much better than its predecessor.
The South Korean tech giant launched V20 and V30 flagships in September 2016 and August 2017 respectively. At MWC 2018 in February, LG released the refined version of V30 with AI capabilities under the name V30 Thinq. So, most likely the V40 flagship from LG will come in September or October 2018, since the G7 flagship might arrive in May, according to the leaks.
There are no solid leaks about about the upcoming V flagship from LG, but according to some rumours from reliable sources, LG is trying to build V40 very much better than V30 in every angle.
One of the recent achivements of LG is the introduction of P-OLED display tech. LG V30 sports 6 inch P-OLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio, which is the new industry standard, and also QHD+ resolution. Although LG’s OLED technology is not far behind Samsung’s Super AMOLED tech, still there is room for improvement. The next V flagship from LG will sport better OLED display, according to tech analysts. We may see the same 18:9 ratio and QHD+ resolution in the next flagship. Most probably, V40 will sport 5.9 or 6 inch display with very thin bezels.
LG V30 arrived with Snapdragon 835 SoC which is the latest flagship SoC with Octa core design. The successor of V30 will come with Snapdragon 845 chipset.
The SD845 chipset is an Octa core chipset with Eight Kryo 385 cores. The chipset is built on 2nd Gen 10nm FinFET LPP process, by Samsung. Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ comes along with SD 845 mobile platform.
The Mobile Platform contains four high performance Kryo 385 cores clocked at 2.8 Ghz and four high efficiency Kryo 385 core clocked at 1.7 Ghz. Due to the latest refinements in BIG.Little architecture by ARM and Qualcomm the CPU works more efficiently than its predecessors and gives lightening fast flagship performance for V40.
The chipset contains X20 LTE modem which supports superfast 4G speeds with 5X carrier aggregation, 4x4MIMO and multigigabyte 802.11ad Wi-Fi support. With X20 modem, LG V40 supports Cat. 18 download speeds upto 1.2 Gbps and upload speeds upto 150 Mbps. The modem also supports DualSim DualVoLTE, UltraHD voice, Voice over Wi-Fi with LTE continuity features
The Snapdragon 845 Mobile platform contains Adreno 630 GPU which is the successor of Adreno 540. The newer visual processing unit from Qualcomm, is very much powerful than its predecessor in many ways. It delivers 30% boost in performance and also 30% more efficient. The GPU has support to record 4K video at 60fps, 10bit HDR and 2K Video at whooping 240fps. So LG V40 may feature super-slow video recording at High resolution and deliver high quality captures. According to Qualcomm, Adreno 630 comes with robust features like Adreno Foveation: multiple technology advancements for multi-view, tile-based foveation with eye-tracking and fine grain preemption etc.
LG V30 arrived with Dual camera setup on the rear side with 16MP and 13MP sensors and also OIS support. LG may implement the same dual camera setup on the next flagship with few improvements. More details about the Camera will be revealed in coming days.
LG V30 is powered by Non-Removable Li-Po 3300 mAh battery which provides excellent backup and also long life. The South Korean tech giant further improves their battery technology for next year. So in LG V40, we will see much better battery than its predecessor. Most likely, the V40 flagship will come with Non-removable 3500 mAh Li-Po battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge support.
LG V30 arrived with Quick Charge 3 support which charges battery faster than regular charging tech. The successor of V30 will come with Quick Charge 4+ support, according to latest rumours. So we will see the LG V40 flagship with much better Quick Charge technology which not only decreases charging time but also increases the battery life by charging at cooler temperatures. Yes, in Quick Charge 4+, Qualcomm made several optimizations to reduce the temperature of battery while Quick Charging. So the latest iteration of Quick Charge, charges the device in the patch in which thermal dissipation of energy is less and so that the efficiency of charge increases.
Recently LG V30 devices started receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update and leaks suggest that the refined version of V30 coming with pre-loaded Android 8.0. So the LG V40 flagship is expected to be unveiled with in-built Android 8.1 Oreo which is much more refined than Android 8.0.
The Android 8.1 Oreo flavour contains Bluetooth battery levels support, Buttery smooth scrolling, Notification improvements, fixed emojis and a handful of other minor refinements. Most likely LG will update the current UI to reflect the Oreo flavour and remove unnecessary bloatware in the V40.
LG V40 is the upcoming flagship from LG and the successor of V30. The flagship will be much better than V30 and sport 5.9 inch or 6 inch OLED Display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Most likely Snapdragon 845 mobile platform will power the V40 flagship. The LG V40 smart phone may sport dual camera sensor setup on the rear side with Dual LED flash. The price of V40 is not known yet but it will be higher than the V30’s price.
We will update this post soon with more details about LG V40 in coming days.
