HTC launched the U11 flagship with EdgeSense in May and HTC U11 hit the shelves in June. The Taiwanese tech giant ditched the 3.5 mm headphone jack just like Apple iPhone 7 but U11 features new Liquid surface and highest rated Camera. The successor of U11 may come in May 2018, according to some reliable reports.
As Google bought some of the Mobile-division of HTC, some rumours are flying that U12 will be the last flagship from HTC. The deal value of Google and HTC is about $1.1 billion and with this deal Google will be able to build better future Pixel flagships to rival against Apple iPhones. According to TechRadar, a HTC spokesperson said that there are working on the 2018’s flagship. But there might be no flagship from the Taiwanese firm after 2018 as they are trying to focus on mid-range and entry-level devices, according to the source.

HTC U12 Display and Design
HTC U11 sports 5.5 inch Super LCD5 Display with QuadHD resolution. So the next flagship from HTC may feature 5.8 inch Super LCD5 Display with tiny or no side bezels to improve screen to body aspect ratio up to 80%. So consumers can expect the debut of new Display design from HTC like the Infinity Display of Samsung. The Display of HTC U12 probably feature 18:9 aspect ratio and QHD+ resolution.

HTC U12 Processor and Ram
The predecessor of HTC U12 is powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC which is a great flagship SoC and it powers almost all 2017 flagships except LG G6. Qualcomm improving their flagship SoCs year by year and so the next top-notch chipset is going to be a beast regarding to performance.
The Snapdragon 845 SoC which is the successor of SD 835 is going to power HTC U12. According to Android Headlines, the upcoming SoC from Qualcomm will be clocked at 2.5 Ghz. The predecessor of Snapdragon 845 is clocked at 2.45 Ghz. If the rumour is even true, as clock speed is not only thing that matters in performance. Albeit, increasing clock speed may boost performance, it will develop excess battery drain and may lead overheating problems.
According to Firstpost, Snapdragon 845 allegedly visits Geekbench 4 and scores 2600 points in the single core test. The benchmark has shown that the HTC U11 scores around 1990 in the single core test. As HTC U12 has got the potential to score above 2500 points in single core test of Geekbench 4, it seems that the next flagship is going to arrive with massive performance improvements. But as these synthetic benchmarks are not equal to real life performance, we have to wait a few more months to experience the true performance.
According to the latest news about SD845, a Weibo post claims that Qualcomm is going to unveil the successor of SD835 on December 4th. So in a few weeks the official details about the Snapdragon 845 will be revealed. The rumour also suggests that the performance will be improved upto 25% in the flagship chipset from Qualcomm.
But it still unknown whether 10nm LPE node (Low power early) or 10nm LPP node (Low power plus), Qualcomm is going to build SD845 Mobile platform. If the chipset built on Samsung’s LPP process, we will see massive increase in performance and reduction in power usage.
X20 LTE Modem
HTC U11 flagship arrived with Snapdragon 835 which contains X16 LTE modem. The modem supports Cat. 16 download speeds upto 1Gbps and is the first Gigabyte class LTE modem. Qualcomm already announced X20 LTE Modem, which is the successor of X16 LTE modem. As Qualcomm has said that the X20 modem is coming with the next flagship SoC, HTC U12 will also sport the X20 modem.
The X20 modem supports Cat. 18 download speeds up to 1.2 Gbps at least theoretically. It also supports Cat. 13 upload speeds up to 150 Mbps. As the modem built on 10nm process, it is very energy-efficient and consumes battery juice minimally. The modem supports Dual Sim Dual VoLTE, HD and UltraHD voice features too.

HTC U12 Quick Charge 4+
Both HTC U11 and U11 Plus flagships arrived with Quick Charge 3 support to boost the charging rate and reduce the charging time. With the upcoming flagship, HTC may introduce the Quick Charge 4+ feature, which is far more efficient than its predecessor. Initially, Qualcomm released Quick Charge 4 as the successor of QC3 but later announced QC4+ as the latest iteration of Quick Charge.
In Quick Charge 4+, the chip maker made significant changes to improve the speed of charging and also lower the charging temperature. So the durability of battery will be improved because of prevention of overheating while charging. The Quick Charge 4+ feature constantly monitors the health of battery while charging and protects it from over heating. The Snapdragon 845 SoC supports Bluetooth 5.0 which is a major upgrade over Bluetooth 4.0. So HTC U12 will arrive with the Bluetooth 5.0 support. Android 8.1 Oreo
HTC U12 is most likely to come with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and will receive atleast two major Android updates. Google recently unveiled the first Developer preview of Android 8.1 Oreo with many exclusive features. The final version of Android 8.1 Oreo is coming in December 2017, according to Android Blog. The Android 8.1 Preview arrives with an interesting feature named as Neural Networks API to accelerate on-device machine intelligence.

According to some tech analysts, HTC might unveil its upcoming flagship in April or May 2018. So the Pre-orders of HTC 12 probably start in the ending of May. Official release dates are yet to be announced.

According to Gizmochina, the next flagship from HTC will probably come with bezelless display and 4K resolution. The rumor claims that HTC U12 will come with glass design and no 3.5mm headphone jack. In line with the previous rumors, the latest one also suggests that HTC U12 will come with dual Camera setup. As these are still rumours and no confirmation from HTC, we should take these with a pinch of salt.
The latest render of HTC U12 shows the bezel-free design with notch like the one Essential Phone. Dual Camera setup along with Dual LED flash on the rear side also appears in the latest render.

Snapdragon 845 official details have been revealed on December 6th and 7th. Qualcomm announced the next flagship officially on an event at Huawei, as the previous rumours revealed. The Snapdragon 845 chipset is built on 10nm FinFET LPP (Low Power Plus) process of Samsung and offers much power efficiency than its predecessor. According to Qualcomm, Snapdragon 845 Mobile platform is 30% more powerful than SD 835.
The chipset contains 4 custom Kryo 385 cores clocked at 2.8 Ghz up from 2.45 Ghz speed of SD 835. The other four Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.8 Ghz to serve in power efficiency processes. The chipmaker also included Adreno 630 which is also 30% more powerful than its predecessor and power efficient. More details about the chipset powering the HTC U12 will be revealed in coming days.
